ULTRA: Months in the Making
Some caps are designed in a week. This one took months.
Months of testing, trying samples, rethinking details and starting over. The ULTRA is the result, and it's a cap we are genuinely proud of. The previous ULTRA laid the foundation, but this version is something more: every detail, small or big, was reviewed and upgraded, because those are the details that make the difference once you're out there.
Made for the Outdoors
The ULTRA is built first of all for outdoor use, and that starts with the fabric. It's made from a lightweight technical nylon ripstop that is very strong and ultra light. At just 42 g, it's tough enough to handle demanding conditions and light enough that you stop noticing it's there. It's also very durable, so it keeps looking and performing the way it should, trip after trip.
The fabric is water repellent too. To be clear, it's not waterproof, but it's more than enough for what a cap needs to do. On longer distances and in challenging terrain, where the weather can change several times in a day, that makes a real difference. A passing shower doesn't have to end your session.
What We Kept, What We Changed
Some things didn't need fixing. The laser-cut side panels provide constant airflow, they proved themselves on the previous model, and they keep your head ventilated when the effort goes up. We saw no reason to touch what already works.
What did change is the fabric, which now holds up better in all kinds of conditions, and the brim. The ULTRA is a 7-panel cap with an unstructured mid brim of 6.0 cm. It's slightly shorter than before, which gives the cap a sharper shape, better proportions and a more comfortable fit. An adjustable buckle strap keeps it secure, whatever the terrain throws at you.
That fit matters to us for another reason. The ULTRA still has a regular headwear fit, but the updated shape, including the shorter brim, makes it a better fit for more people, men and women alike. We believe headwear should be wearable by anyone, but that's not always how sizing works in practice. PĒSU started in a market that's mainly inspired by men, and we want to make it more inclusive. There are still steps to take, but we're carrying this thinking into the ULTRA and into every design that follows.
Keeping It Fresh
The ULTRA is easy to look after, because the whole cap can be washed by hand. We recommend rinsing it out after use, so it's fresh for every workout that's coming. Rinse it well with water and a mild soap, then hang it up to dry. We advise against the washing machine, as the friction in the drum can damage the cap and affect its shape. A hand wash protects it and helps it last.
From the Trail to the Street
From the first moment, the ULTRA has been a favourite with our regular customers and outdoor lovers. It's a cap for people who care about technical gear and about how it looks. It's used for intense outdoor sessions, but also as a lifestyle cap, because technical gear has become a permanent part of everyday style.
The colours help with that. The ULTRA comes in brown, black and bone, all natural tones that fit in with the outdoors. And then there's blue, our one exception. We wanted a variant that pops, but still complements the natural base of the other colours. That's what makes it a premium piece: it gives any outfit an all-conditions feel, ready for whatever the day brings.
How the ULTRA has been received means a lot to us. After all those months of work, there's nothing better than seeing it out there with you.
